Vietnam National Action Plan for Management of Marine Plastic Litter by 2030
View the policy documentKey Findings
View the policy documentThis policy focuses on marine plastic waste abatement. Vietnam is the 8th worst polluter for plastic into the ocean and 6% of all marine plastic comes from Vietnam. Vietnam is also one of the top 5 importers of plastic, but has little recycling infrastructure. Vietnam became chair of ASEAN in 2020 and Vietnam signed the Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris. Vietnam introduced this plan in 2020 as a result. There is a lack of infrastructure but finance is being provided by Germany and Japan and there is support from WWF. The plan is too recent to assess.
