Starbucks Plastic Straw BanView the policy document
Key FindingsView the policy document
Starbucks implemented a phase out of plastic straws, which was ultimately successful, but drew criticism because the alternative lids contained more plastic than the straws they replaced. The new lid is fully recyclable. Paper straws will be used for drinks requiring straws, but consumers are sceptical of the efficacy of these.
Through an analytical framework, we've reviewed over 100 plastic policies. These reviews determine the effectiveness of policies in reducing plastic pollution and we offer recommendations in light of this evidence, to enhance future policy making.
