View the policy documentThis guideline aims to guide the effective management of healthcare waste by (i) providing recommendations on safe, efficient, sustainable, affordable, and acceptable methods of disposal of wastes generated from healthcare activities; (ii) helping to manage and control the disposal of healthcare waste and preventing the risk of potentially harmful exposures; (iii) providing waste handlers with recommendations on proper handling and disposal of healthcare waste, thus ensuring their health and safety as well as that of the general public. It also provides recommendations for waste minimization, re-use and recycling. The administration of this Act falls under the Ministry of Health. There was insufficient evidence available to assess this policy at the time of the assessment.
