The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF), one of the leading annual circular economy events in the world, will be held in Helsinki from 30 May to 2 June 2023. The forum is co-organised by Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and Nordic Innovation, with international partners.
WCEF 2023, originating from Finland, will gather thousands of leading circular economy players in the world. It will focus on finding circular solutions that can help our economies fit within the boundaries of nature.
Co-organisers Sitra and Nordic Innovation, two key players driving transition to a circular economy in the Nordic countries and globally, share the goal to make Finland and the Nordic countries forerunners in sustainable well-being and have both supported Nordic companies in adopting circular economy business models, for example by creating Playbooks for businesses and compiling lists of the most interesting companies in the circular economy.
The Forum will feature more than 100 Nordic and global leaders who drive ambitious action to accelerate the circular economy transition and to promote circular solutions. These include European Commission’s Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, Vice President Ambroise Fayolle of the European Investment Bank, Deputy Director Steven Stone from UNEP and EU Youth Delegate to the United Nations Nadia Gullestrup Christensen.
The first WCEF was held in Helsinki, in June 2017, during Finland’s celebrations of its 100 years of independence. Since then, the forum has been held in Japan, Canada, the Netherlands and Rwanda.
