Before the commencing of the 1st session of Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC), the Multi-stakeholder Forum INC-1 brings together stakeholders from across the plastics life cycle to share knowledge and information. This will assist the progress of the INC meetings to form “an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment” as per the UNEA-5.2 Resolution 5/14 to end plastic pollution.

Questions addressed during this first multi-stakeholder forum include: “Which challenges and opportunities should be considered in the negotiations?” and “Which actions are already helping to shift the needle on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment?” (United Nations Environment Programme, 2022).
